AURORA, IL — Crews recently started construction on a new project that will change the face of the Fox Valley Mall. The new 16,000 square foot "Center Park" courtyard space will include swing sets, outdoor games, sculptures, and a "treehouse space."

The first floor of the courtyard is expected to be wrapped up by winter holiday season. Then, crews will get to work on building an 8,000 square foot "treehouse space" that extends to the mall's upper level.

Recently painted murals on outdoor walls at the former Sears space teased the Fox Valley Mall's upcoming addition.

The Center Park aims to provide social gathering spaces that integrate natural elements and images of nature. Ceilings on the lower level, for instance, will depict the sky during day or night.

Plants, trellises, charming lights, and statues of foxes are other additions customers can expect to see once the entire project wraps up in 2020.
