Free Electronics Recycling Will Return As Drive-Thru For Earth Day
Registration for the popular event opens at 8 a.m. Friday. The drive-thru will be open to the first 1,500 Aurora residents who register.
AURORA, IL — Aurora will host its annual free Spring Electronics Recycling Drive-Thru this Earth Day.
Locals can stop by the downtown Aurora parking lot, 201 N. River St., adjacent to Hollywood Casino from 8 a.m. to noon April 22 to drop off items for free.
The only caveat is participants will be required to register in advance. Online registration opens at 8 a.m. Friday.

Due to the high demand for the service, the drive-thru will only be open to the first 1,500 Aurora residents to register. Identification will be required.
Each vehicle participating will be limited to two screens, either a television or computer screen, but can recycle an unlimited number of other electronics.

No businesses will be allowed to drop off electronics, and only approved household items and electrics will be accepted.

- Blenders
- Bread makers
- Carpet sweepers
- Coffee makers
- Clocks
- Curling irons
- Electric knives
- Electric toothbrushes
- Fans
- Fryers
- Haircutters
- Hair dryers
- Holiday lights
- Irons
- Landline phones
- Metal tools
- Mixers
- Remotes
- Shaving equipment
- Toaster ovens
- Vacuum cleaners (without bags)
The following is a list of items that will not be accepted:
- Large appliances (refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, washers, dryers)
- Batteries of any type
- Air conditioners
- Ballasts
- Bare CRT tubes
- Capacitors
- Carbon monoxide detectors
- Dehumidifiers
- Light bulbs
- Liquids
- Microwaves
- Salvaged units
- Smoke detectors
- VHS cassette tapes
- Wood speakers
- Medical equipment (any material that is considered or has come in contact with biohazard or radioactive material)
