Gas Price Update: Aurora Prices Continue Falling Ahead Of Labor Day

AURORA, IL — With Labor Day weekend here, many are planning to hit the road and visit a new place. Much to drivers' relief, gas prices in Aurora continue dropping.

The average price for gas in Illinois is $4.15 per gallon as of Thursday, according to AAA. That's 6 cents cheaper than a week ago and about 48 cents lower than the average a month ago.

At around $4.20 per gallon in Kane County, gas prices were slightly above the state average. Nationally, the price per gallon of gas remains below $4 for an average of $3.82 Thursday.

"Drivers are now benefiting from gas prices that are $1.11 less than their peak in mid-June," Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said in a statement. "But now we need to keep an eye on the weather as hurricane season arrives. These storms can affect prices by disrupting oil production in the Gulf of Mexico and impacting large coastal refineries."

Declining prices or not, it helps to know which station to visit to save a little.

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Aurora is selling for $4.07 per gallon at Casey's, 330 N. Eola Road. Here is what other stations around town are charging:

• Shell at 407 S. Lake St.: $4.07 per gallon
• Mobil at 600 S. Frontenac Road: $4.07 per gallon
• Mobil at 1680 Montgomery Road: $4.07 per gallon
• Shell at 320 W. Galena Boulevard: $4.09 per gallon
• Mobil at 1030 N. Lake St.: $4.09 per gallon
