Girl, 9, Will Be Honored By Aurora City Council For Saving Mom's Life
"She handled herself better than most adults would," Traci Whalen, an Aurora 911 dispatcher, said of Aria Lamen.

AURORA, IL — A 9-year-old girl became a hero when she made a lifesaving 911 call after her mom passed out at their Aurora home, officials said.
To commend Aria Lamen's bravery, Aurora City Council will honor the Girl Scout at Tuesday night's meeting.
The call came in on a cold night in February when Aria and her mom, Caron, were home alone. Aria was doing her homework and talking to her mom, who suddenly passed out.

Caron was rushed to the hospital, where she spent 16 days in the hospital and rehabilitation before returning home.
"I'm just so proud of her," Aria's mother said, per Muhammad. "I could not be here today had it not been for her courage and calmness."
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and take place at City Hall, 44 E. Downer Place. For locals who cannot attend the in-person session, it will also be livestreamed on Facebook.
The ceremony, held in light of Women's History Month, will feature a special recognition and an award presentation for the 9-year-old.
