Gun Found in Student's Backpack at Metea Valley High
Police said no children were ever threatened or harmed Monday. The student faces disciplinary action through the school.

AURORA, IL - A Metea Valley High School student faces disciplinary action after bringing a gun to school Monday, school officials said.
Police were called to Metea Valley after students told staff members about a rumor regarding the student bringing the gun to school, Principal Darrell Echol said in a phone message to parents Monday.

Police found an unloaded gun in the student’s backpack, Echol said. The student did not have any bullets and no students were at any point threatened or harmed.
“We appreciate that our students acted responsibly and immediately notified us so we could take action,” Echols said. “District 204 takes this situation very seriously and disciplinary action is occurring.”
