Health Services Reminder By CDC For Cold And Flu Season In Aurora

To prevent the spread of flu, the CDC recommends that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu-like illness symptoms.

February 6, 2020

With cold and flu season upon us, we want to share with you recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on ways to help keep your family healthy. To prevent the spread of flu, the CDC recommends that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu-like illness symptoms (such as fever, cough, and sore throat). If your child is running a fever of 100 degrees or greater, please keep your child home until they are fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications.

If your child is experiencing vomiting or diarrhea, please keep your child at home until these concerns have been resolved for 24 hours, and your child is tolerating food. Colds and respiratory viruses are common during this time of year. Please take a moment to remind your child to practice good hygiene, including hand washing and respiratory etiquette. We are providing students with the same good hygiene reminders at school. For medical questions or concerns, contact your physician. The CDC has published information, in English and Spanish, on keeping your family healthy this cold and flu season.
