AURORA, IL — Aurora's historic Phillips Park waterfall has been turned on for the first time in two years, and just in time for warmer, summer-like days.

The waterfall was under repairs last summer, but now that a new water pump has been added, the destination is once again active, according to Chief Communications Officer Clayton Muhammad. Phillips Park staff, part of city's Public Works Department, did the honor of "flipping the switch."

During the day, the waterfall serves as a backdrop for visitors' photos. At night, the waterfall is backlit to reflect various holidays and special occasions. Currently, the waterfall shines blue in honor of National Police Week — from May 15 to May 21.
