Kane Co. Coronavirus Cases On Decline For Past Week; 188 Deaths
The data shows 548 new cases were confirmed between May 27 and June 2; more than 1,100 new cases were confirmed over the prior 7-day period.
KANE COUNTY, IL — Public health data shows the average number of Kane County residents testing positive for the coronavirus each day has been dropping for at last a week.
Officials announced 50 new cases on May 30, the lowest number of confirmed cases in a day for more than a month. The county saw its largest spike in new cases on May 11, when 445 people tested positive for the coronavirus, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The data shows 548 new cases were confirmed between May 27 and June 2; more than 1,100 new cases were confirmed over the prior 7-day period. Kane County’s total coronavirus case count stands at 6,514, as of Tuesday evening.

The 7-day rolling average of daily new cases — a measure that takes into account daily fluctuations to show longer-term trends — has dropped from a high of more than 200 in mid-May to less than 100 for the past two days, according to the data.
The Kane County Health Department’s coronavirus website shows 188 residents of the county have died from the coronavirus, as of Tuesday. Statistics released Tuesday by Kane County Coroner Rob Russell show 20 people died between May 26 and June 1 after testing positive for the virus. All 20 were Kane County residents, including 9 people from Aurora, the coroner’s data shows.
