KCHD Equipped With Outdoor Cameras Thanks To Sheriff's Office

The Kane County Health Department has never been equipped with outdoor surveillance cameras, and the sheriff's office aimed to change that.

AURORA, IL — Two county agencies are helping each other out this holiday season.

The Kane County Health Department received a special gift from the Kane County Sheriff's Office this year: a set of security cameras. Formed in 1985 by the Kane County Board, the department has two locations, one on North Highland Avenue in Aurora, another on Grandstand Place in Elgin. But in its decades of existence, according to Kane County Connects, the outside of its two facilities have never been equipped with surveillance.

That changed this month when Scientel Solutions installed cameras in light of a growing need for security during the pandemic. The sheriff's office pulled money from its fund to give the health department an additional layer of protection.

"When it came to the Sheriff's Office attention that the Health Department did not have surveillance cameras, our team and our budget stepped up to make it happen expeditiously," Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain said in a statement. "Special thanks to Deputy Ed Catich and Scientel Solutions to make this happen so quickly."
