Linden Oaks Run for Recovery 5K Sept. 15 at Waubonsie Lake Park

Registration is open for the Run for Recovery 5K, presented by Linden Oaks Behavioral Health and Breaking Free. The Run for Recovery 5K will take place Saturday, Sept. 15, 8:00 a.m. at Waubonsie Lake Park, 988 Kautz Rd. in Aurora.

The Run/Walk is a partnership between Linden Oaks and Breaking Free to support those fighting addiction, remember those who’ve lost their lives and celebrate those in recovery. Proceeds benefit addiction programs and addiction services.

The course is a winding paved trail which encircles a beautiful lake. The 5K will be followed by a post-race celebration, including music and awards. All are welcome, from competitive runners to novice walkers, as well as children and adolescents.

Registration is $35 (until Sept. 1 when registration increases to $40) and includes a 5K T-shirt. Same-day race registration and packet pickup will start at 6:45 a.m. For more information or to participate, visit raceroster.com/events/2018/18906/run-for-recovery.

The Run for Recovery 5K was founded as a way to destigmatize addiction issues in the community and coincides with National Recovery Month, which supports efforts for substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery.
