Lives Lost To COVID-19 Will Be Honored At Kane County Event
The event, hosted by Kane County officials, will remember the lives of more than 1,000 residents who died of COVID-19.
GENEVA, IL — As of Wednesday, 1,020 Kane County residents have died of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic two years ago. To honor their lives, government officials are hosting a ceremony at noon Friday.
Visitors will gather on the steps of the Kane County Courthouse, at 100 S. Third St. in downtown Geneva.
The county hit the 1,000 mark for COVID-19 deaths on Jan. 20, according to Illinois Department of Public Health data.

Several Kane County executives will be in attendance at the ceremony, including Kane County Board Chairwoman Corinne Pierog, U.S. Congressman Bill Foster, Kane County Health Department Interim Executive Director Kathy Fosser, Kane County coroners Rob Russell and Jonathan Shively, executive director of Fox Valley Hands of Hope.
For people who can't attend the in-person event, the ceremony will be live-streamed on the Kane County Government YouTube page.
