Lottery To Set Ballot Order For Aurora Candidates In 2025 Election
Twenty-five candidates are running for mayor and aldermen in Aurora in the upcoming consolidated election on April 1, 2025.

AURORA, IL — The City of Aurora will host a lottery Wednesday to determine the ballot order for 25 candidates running in the local 2025 Consolidated Election.
The seats for mayor, alderman-at-large, and aldermen in six wards will be up for election on April 1.
The lottery is scheduled to occur at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Aurora City Hall, 44 E. Downer Place. It will also be live-streamed on the city's YouTube channel.

Per state law, local election authorities are required to conduct a lottery within nine days after the last day of the petition filing period. Petitions are considered simultaneously filed if the city clerk's office received them at 8 a.m. Oct. 21, the first day of the filing period, or at 4 p.m. on the final day, officials said.
Any petitions submitted after 8 a.m. Oct. 21 and before 4 p.m. Oct. 28 will appear in the order they were received.

"Our goal is to conduct the lottery in a transparent, accessible, and fair manner," Aurora City Clerk Jennifer Stallings said in a statement. "We invite all interested parties to attend in person, and we will also livestream the process for those who wish to watch online."
The following candidates, who were in line at or before 8 a.m. Oct. 21, will be added to the lottery to determine who will appear first on the ballot:

There were no simultaneous filings at 4 p.m. Oct. 28, city officials said.
