AURORA, IL — Police in Aurora are investigating a homicide in which a 20-year-old man was found fatally shot in the chest in the 400 block of Sherman Avenue late Friday. The shooting took place just before midnight in an apartment, according to a news release from Aurora Police spokesperson Paris Lewbel.

Lewbel wrote that police arrived to the scene and sent the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police then started an investigation by interviewing potential witnesses and collecting evidence.

Police say they do not believe the shooting was a random act.
