Man, 29, Killed In Crash At Eola Road, McCoy Drive: Aurora Police

AURORA, IL — A 29-year-old man died after a rollover crash early Friday at Eola Road and McCoy Drive, Aurora police said.

First responders were dispatched at about 5 a.m. after a Jeep and a Honda collided. The preliminary investigation showed neither driver was impaired, police said.

The Honda, investigators found, was driving east on McCoy Drive when the driver entered the intersection with North Eola Road and was struck by the Jeep, according to police.

Aurora Fire Department paramedics brought the Honda driver to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Kane County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine his exact cause of death. Officials have not yet released the man’s identity.

The Jeep driver was also hospitalized, and police said he was listed in stable condition.

Aurora police continue investigation the crash, and their findings will be reviewed by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine whether criminal charges are warranted, officials said.

“This is a tragic incident that has resulted in the loss of a young life, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Chief Matt Thomas said in a statement. “We owe it to the victim, their family, and our community to carefully examine the facts and determine what led to this tragedy.”
