Medication Disposal Part of Kiwanis “One Day” on April 13
- Fox Metro Water Reclamation District Encourages Drop-off -

AURORA, Ill., April 1, 2019 – Kiwanis One Day is a city-wide of community service day to help the environment. As part One Day in Aurora on Saturday, April 13, 8 a.m. – noon, there is a “medication disposal” drop-off at the Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway, Aurora.
The drop-off is accepting all medications except controlled substances and sharps. The goal is to keep medications out of our waterway and protect our environment.
Kiwanis is partnering with Fox Metro Water Reclamation District, City of Aurora, Aurora Township, Fox Valley Park District, new partner Friends of the Fox, and other local agencies in conducting what they hope will be another successful cleanup event.

Chairman for this community-wide event is Pat Divine. Divine is a member of the Aurora Kiwanis club and Human Resources Coordinator for Fox Metro. He notes about this drop-off, “We do not want medications being flush down the toilet and into our Fox River. So please do visit our drop-off with your old drugs.”

Founded on Sept. 9, 1916, the Kiwanis Club of Aurora was the first club in the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District and the twenty-first club chartered in the world. The club currently has 99 members. It is also the sponsor of Kiwanis clubs in Oswego and Yorkville.
