AURORA, IL — A two-story house in the 1700 block of Melbourne Lane caught fire Sunday night, displacing a family of three, the Aurora Fire Department said Monday afternoon.
Firefighters responded to the single-family residence at 7:45 p.m. and found light smoking showing from the house. After locating a fire in the wall near the fireplace, Engine Company firefighters deployed hose lines while crews from Truck and other Engine companies opened interior and exterior walls near the fireplace, officials said.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish and contain the fire before it spread, but the house was deemed uninhabitable. Two adults and a child who lived at the house are now staying with family, according to officials.
