New Dean Of Students Appointed At Herget Middle School

Before coming into the role of dean of students, Lindsey McGee worked as a teacher leader in East Aurora School District 131 for six years.

AURORA, IL — A new dean of students has been appointed at Herget Middle School just in time for the start of the school year for students at West Aurora School District 129.

Lindsey McGee was approved for the role during the Board of Education's regular meeting Monday.

McGee comes into the role of dean of students after working as a teacher leader in East Aurora School District 131 for the past six years. In that role, she taught drama and theater arts at Waldo Middle School while also directing student clubs, mentoring new teachers and conducting professional learning for colleagues.

While at Waldo, McGee completed her educational administration internship, where she ventured into other areas such as school improvement, financial budgets and student support systems, according to a news release.

The educator began her public education career in Crete Monee Community Unit School District 201-U. She taught writing, communication arts and drama for three years at Crete-Monee Middle School while also serving as a member of the grammar committee and director of the drama club.

"I am excited to begin my administrative career as a dean at Herget Middle School," McGee said in a statement. "I want to thank the school board for the opportunity to serve students and families, as well as the staff and faculty. I am looking forward to building relationships and using restorative practices in the school setting this year."

McGee has a bachelor's degree in theatre from North Central College, a two master's degrees in teaching and educational leadership from Aurora University and North Central College, respectively.
