AURORA, IL — Aurora's newest alderman, representing the city's 7th Ward, will be officially sworn in Tuesday.
Brandon Tolliver will fill the seat of the late Alderwoman Scheketa Hart-Burns, who died unexpectedly June 19. He'll become the second person to hold the position since the ward's establishment in 1991.
At 34, he'll also be the youngest person currently on City Council.

"This is the honor of my life," Tolliver said in a statement. "I was born and raised in Aurora and looked up to Alderwoman Hart-Burns. I will strive to make her and the constituents proud as we move Ward 7 onward and upward."
Alderpersons unanimously voted Sept. 5 to approve Mayor Richard Irvin's appointment to take over the Ward 7 seat until the 2025 general election.
