Operation Senior Shovel Registration Still Open
Operation Senior Shovel is a free program that pairs Aurora seniors and residents with disabilities with volunteers who provide shoveling.

AURORA, IL — The sad reality is snow will hit the ground before many Aurora residents are ready for it. To prepare, the city will once again assist senior citizens and residents with disabilities through Operation Senior Shovel.
The online application and phone line went live at 9 a.m. Tuesday, officials said. Registration remains open as of Nov. 21.
In its third season, Operation Senior Shovel is a free program that pairs Aurora seniors and residents with disabilities with volunteers who provide shoveling services. The operation is only activated after it snows 2 or more inches after which "every effort will be made" to secure a volunteer within 48 hours starting the morning after.
