Oswego Woman Arrested After Spitting In Nurse’s Face: Police

Cynthia Meyers "lunged towards" a nurse at Mercy Medical Center and spit in her face while claiming to have the coronavirus, police said.

AURORA, IL — An Oswego woman was arrested Monday after police said she spit in an Aurora nurse’s face while claiming to have the coronavirus. Cynthia Meyers, 33, of the 200 block of South Springbrook Trail in Oswego, faces a felony charge of aggravated battery to a nurse, according to police.

Meyers checked herself into the AMITA Health Mercy Medical Center in Aurora after having breathing issues but decided to leave while receiving treatment, police said. When a nurse asked her to sign paperwork to be discharged, Meyers “lunged towards the nurse and spit in her face,” Aurora police said in a news release.

Meyers is due to appear in court June 17, according to Kane County court records.
