The STEM School is part of the Aurora University campus and specializes in science, technology, engineering, and math. The STEM School serves 200 students in grades 3 through 8 from four area school districts, including East Aurora School District 131, Indian Prairie 204, West Aurora 129, and Batavia 101.

This opportunity is for students with an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. It is not solely for gifted students—any student with a passion for these subjects is encouraged to apply.

Parent Information Meeting

Parents can learn more about the John C. Dunham STEM School by attending a Parent Information Meeting on Thursday, February 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Aurora University Banquet Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place, Aurora, IL 60506.

Application Process

Parents of students who wish to apply for one of the nine available seats should complete (online) the 2020-21 STEM “Parent or Third Adult Survey” application. This Survey will be available online immediately following the February 27 Parent Meeting.

The online Survey must be completed by Friday, March 6, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. Surveys received after this date/time will not be accepted.

A lottery for all available seats will be held on Thursday, March 26th. On April 6th, the school district will send letters to parents notifying them either that their child was selected for the AU STEM school, or that their child is on the wait list.
