Crisis Ends Peacefully In Aurora: Police
Police responded to help an individual who surrendered to officers just after 6:30 p.m., adding "no crime occurred" in the incident.
AURORA, IL — A person surrendered to officers after police responded to what they later called a "mental health crisis" Tuesday afternoon in the 300 block of Springlake Lane.
In an alert published at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aurora police said members of the department’s Crisis Intervention Unit, Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiations team were responding and asked nearby residents to shelter in place and drivers to avoid the area. "Out of an abundance of caution, members of the Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Response Team made contact with the subject," police said.
In an update posted to social media, police said, "We can confirm this is a mental health crisis. Our officers are working diligently to resolve this incident peacefully."

Police said the person surrendered to officers around 6:35 p.m. Members of the Crisis Intervention Unit continue to provide support to the person.
"No crime occurred and there is no ongoing threat to the public," police said, adding that officers were clearing out the area and that evacuated residents could return home.
