Kane County Coronavirus Cases Top 2,100; 84 Deaths
Thirteen people in the county died from coronavirus-related conditions over the weekend, and 84 people have died since the outbreak started.
GENEVA, IL — More than 400 people in Kane County have tested positive for the coronavirus since Friday, public health data shows. Officials confirmed 83 new cases Monday, bringing the county’s total to 2,154. Thirteen people in Kane County died from coronavirus-related conditions over the weekend, and 84 people have died since the outbreak started in the county, Coroner Rob Russell announced Monday.
The 33 deaths reported over the past week represent a 65 percent increase in the number of coronavirus deaths that were recorded between March 23 — when the county reported its first coronavirus death — and April 26, Russell said.

Kane County saw its largest single-day spike in the number of cases Friday, when 173 cases were confirmed, the data shows. The total number of coronavirus cases in the county has doubled in less than two weeks.
The coroner's office on Monday provided basic information about the 33 people who have died from the coronavirus since its last update. The coroner's office will only release the age, gender, town of residence and date of death out of respect for those who have died and their families. Only those who tested positive for the coronavirus were included in the list, the release states.

All deaths at Kane County hospitals are included in the statistics, though not all are Kane County residents, Russell has emphasized in his updates. All but two of the 33 newly reported deaths were Kane County residents, according to information released Monday.
The 33 deaths Russell confirmed Monday included 12 Aurora residents, 10 Geneva residents and three Elgin residents, the data shows.
