Harvest Naperville, North Aurora and Bolingbrook campus name change effective Easter Sunday 2017

NAPERVILLE -- A growing 17-year-old non-denominational church in Chicago’s western suburbs is changing its name to unify its three campuses and better serve its communities.

Effective Easter Sunday 2017, Harvest Bible Chapel--with campuses in Naperville, North Aurora and Bolingbrook--will officially become Highpoint Church. The name change will establish a distinct church identity across its multiple locations and provide consistency across an expanding number of teaching and community outreach ministries.

Highpoint Church, founded in 2000 as the first church plant out of Harvest Bible Chapel in Rolling Meadows, Ill., has experienced significant growth in recent years, offering five weekend services across three campuses. Now one of the largest churches in the western suburbs, the new name represents the next phase for a church that started with less than a hundred people at Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn almost two decades ago.

“Highpoint is much more than just a new name. It’s a new identity for our church inspired by the biblical truth that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours--so we need to seek high points with Him that elevate our faith,” said Ron Zappia, Lead Pastor, Highpoint Church. “As we officially become Highpoint Church, we celebrate all the high points we have experienced so far and look forward to what God has in store for us next.”

The church’s Naperville campus is a former office building located at 1805 High Point Drive in northern Naperville. Originally planted at Glenbard South High School, the church purchased, renovated and moved to the long-vacant four-story office building in 2007. The Naperville City Council approved the church’s request to rezone the property from commercial to church use.

The church’s North Aurora campus, the former Tanner Trails Community Church, opened in 2015 at 2301 Tanner Road. The Bolingbrook campus, located in an industrial corridor near the center of the village, opened in 2016 at 440 Quadrangle Drive.

As the church has grown, so has the number of ministries operated out of its main campus along Interstate 88 in Naperville. Highpoint Ministries, the teaching ministry of Zappia founded in 2013, features a national radio broadcast, devotionals, CDs, an online podcast, national conferences as well as additional resources. The radio broadcast can be heard locally on Moody Radio (WMBI-FM 90.1) and WYLL 1160 AM.

Zappia said all the church’s ministries will now be unified under the Highpoint name, providing consistency and maximizing the impact of the gospel message.

“Our mission is to glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission. In short, we exist to help people believe in, belong to and become more like Jesus,” Zappia said. “As we move forward under the Highpoint name, we look forward to reaching even more people with the gospel message.”

Highpoint Church will retain its member affiliation with Harvest Bible Fellowship, Harvest Bible Chapel’s church-planting arm, which now has more than 150 churches across North America and the world.

The name change is effective Easter weekend April 15 & 16. The church will host three Good Friday services on April 14 at the Naperville campus and seven Easter Sunday services on Saturday, April 15, and Sunday, April 16. Times and locations are as follows:

The Easter weekend services will conclude Zappia’s 16-week series on the Gospel of Mark.
