1 Person Dead, 1 Injured In Motorcycle Crash Late Thursday: Aurora PD

Officers determined the motorcycle was driving west on Sunset Avenue when it collided with a pickup truck driving south on Wilder Street.

AURORA, IL — One person died and another was injured in a "serious" motorcycle crash that happened near the intersection of Wilder Street and Sunset Avenue late Thursday night, according to Aurora police.

Police and firefighters responded to the crash just before 9 p.m. when officers determined the motorcycle was driving west on Sunset Avenue when it collided with a pickup truck that was driving south on Wilder Street.

An Aurora man was flown to a Chicago-area trauma hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police identified the man as 23-year-old Jackson B. Bennett, of the 900 block of Old Indian Trail.

Fire crews transported one other person with non-life-threatening injuries from the scene, officials said.

The intersection of Wilder Street and Sunset Avenue remained closed for several hours while investigators reconstructed the scene.

The police department's Traffic Division responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the crash using state-of-the-art drone technology to create a 3D digital map, which allows investigators to see specific details and measurements of the scene. Volunteers from Aurora's Emergency Management Agency also responded to assist with scene lighting and traffic control.
