Special Olympics State Competition Showcases Tomcat Talent

AURORA, IL — This month, District 131 was well represented at the Special Olympics State Tournament at Illinois State University. Eight gold, five silver, two bronze medals, and a sixth-place certificate were awarded to our students. One student in particular, Alex Mota, was a Gold medalist for all three events he competed in, including Squat, Bench-press and Deadlift.

We are so proud of the ways our Tomcats challenge themselves in and outside the classroom, support one another, and create and then reach their own goals to reach their fullest potential. District 131 is currently ranked #1 in Powerlifting in the Western Suburbs. Our students continue to place us on the map in all manner of achievement.

Congratulations to all our student-athletes and thank you to the District 131 staff who continually support, train, and encourage them!
