St. Patrick's Day Enforcement Leads To 18 Citations: Aurora PD

Police also made three driving under the influence arrests during the St. Patrick's Day enforcement period.

AURORA, IL — Aurora police's St. Patrick's Day enforcement yielded a total of 18 tickets, officials said.

During the March 8-17 campaign, officers stepped up impaired driving and seat belt enforcement, particularly at night when usage is typically the lowest. Speeding, distracted driving and all traffic laws were also strictly enforced.

Police also made three arrests related to driving under the influence, according to a news release.

"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason — to save lives," said Lt. Andy Wolcott said in a statement.

Aurora police joined forces with state and local law enforcement agencies for the campaign paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
