Suspect In Fatal October Shooting Of Aurora Man Arrested After Chase
Derrick D. Jordan was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of Martin Pegues, who police found shot in an Aurora backyard.

AURORA, IL — A suspect wanted in connection with the October shooting death of a man in an Aurora backyard was captured this week after a police chase that ended in Dekalb, according to authorities.
Derrick D. Jordan, 47, of Aurora, was arrested Wednesday and charged with multiple counts including first-degree murder in the Oct. 5 death of 47-year-old Martin Pegues, Aurora police said in a news release.
Police found Pegues in the backyard of a home in the 100 block of North Calhoun Street suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, authorities said.

Authorities were unable to locate the shooter following the incident, police said.
According to Aurora police, detectives located Jordan on Wednesday in a car near the 1400 block of North Farnsworth Avenue here in Aurora. Officers area attempted to stop the vehicle; however, Jordan fled, leading officers in a pursuit, authorities said.

According to police, the chase ended and Jordan was later located in Dekalb. He was taken into custody by the Dekalb Police Department.
Jordan was also charged with aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon by a convicted felon and two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding, police said.
