Teen Sentenced For Shooting At Party In Aurora: Cops

AURORA, IL — An Aurora teen has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the shooting of a 15-year-old at a party. Taveon Jordan, 18, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in connection with the 2017 shooting.

According to police, Jordan went to a party around 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 14, 2017. Once he got to the party, police say Jordan went into a bedroom where two teens were and shot a 15-year-old boy.

After an investigation, police issued a warrant for Jordan's arrest; he was later taken into custody.

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said of the incident, "This morning, Taveon Jordan admitted he shot an unarmed teen for no apparent reason. This was a senseless act of violence that nearly resulted in the loss of life. Thankfully, the victim has since recovered from his injuries."

Jordan must serve 85 percent of his 12-year sentence before he becomes eligible for parole.
