Top Traffic Crash Locations in Aurora So Far This Year

Aurora police release details on traffic crashes from Jan. 1 through March 31 of this year.

The number of traffic crashes from Jan. 1 through March 31 of this year are down 11 percent compared to last year, according to traffic data released this past week by the Aurora Police Department.

Here is a look at the top five crash locations, and the number of crashes at the those intersections, that have happened through March 31 of this year:

  1. Rougte 59 and Ogden/Route 34: 26 crashes
  2. Eola and New York: 21 crashes
  3. Frontenac and Ogden: 16 crashes
  4. Montgomery and Route 59: 15 crashes
  5. Eola and Sheffer and Galena and Smith: 14

Police also released this past week the top crash locations that had crashes involving a fatality or personal injury, and the number of fatalities or injuries at those intersections, between Jan. 1 and March 31 of this year:

  1. Galena and Smith: 6
  2. Farnsworth and Solfisburg: 5

The following locations have all had four crashes that involved a fatality or injury: Illinois and Orchard; Butterfield/Rt. 56 and Eola; Commons and McCoy; McCoy and Route 59; Farnsworth and Indian Trail; Eola and Ogden/Route 34; Indian Trail and Lake; and Frontenac and Ogden

To avoid crashes, drivers should put down their cell phones, slow down, no drive aggressively and buckle up, police said.
