Trick-Or-Treating In Aurora: Hours Announced For Halloween

The city is also hosting a trick-or-treat drive-thru from noon to 3 p.m. on Halloween. Registration, which is required, will open Thursday.

AURORA, IL — Halloween is right around the corner, and ahead of the beloved holiday, Aurora officials announced the city's recommended trick-or-treating hours will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.

In Aurora, children will also have a second opportunity to collect candy. The city is hosting a trick-or-treat drive-thru event from noon to 3 p.m. on Halloween at Phillips Park, 1000 Ray Moses Drive. Kids are encouraged to dress up in costumes, and families can even decorate their cars for the event. Each child in the car will receive a bag of treats.

Registration is required for the drive-thru event, and guests will have to show proof of their Aurora address to enter.

Tickets, which are free, will be available starting at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Officials also offered tips to promote safety in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Trick-or-treating should take place outside.
  • Participants are encouraged to not gather in large crowds.
  • Costumes should incorporate medical masks or cloth face coverings should be worn. Masks that generally come with costumes do not protect from viruses.
  • Wash hands before and after trick-or-treating.
  • Keep children home if they are sick or showing any signs of illness.
  • Inspect candy as usual.
  • Do not hand out candy if you are sick or showing any signs of illness.
  • Consider individual baggies of candy instead of a big bowl.
