Two Administrators Approved At West Aurora District 129

Margarita Vazquez will serve as director of English learners, and Brian Wiesbrook will be fourth-grade curriculum coordinator.

AURORA, IL — Two new administrators have been hired for the 2022-23 school year at West Aurora School District 129. Margarita Vazquez and Brian M. Wiesbrook were approved during the regular Board of Education meeting Monday.

Vazquez, a graduate from District 129, will serve as the district's director of English learners starting in the fall. Until then, she continues to work in West Chicago Elementary School District 33, where she has been for 22 years.

In her current role as coordinator for second language learners, Vazquez provides professional development opportunities for staff, oversees the district's dual-language program, and directs various student and parent programs.

Before becoming coordinator, Vazquez — who has a Bachelor of Arts in education and a Master of Arts in reading and literacy from Benedictine University — worked as a lead literacy teacher, special education teacher, English as a second language teacher, and instructional coach, according to District 129 officials.

"I am very excited and honored to be named the next director of English learner programs for School District 129," Vazquez said in a statement. "As a West Aurora High School graduate, I am honored to be back serving the community. I look forward to learning, growing and serving together."

Starting in the fall, Wiesbrook will serve as fourth-grade curriculum coordinator. Before coming to the district, he spent eight years next door in Naperville, at Indian Prairie School District 204. There, Wiesbrook taught fourth grade at Georgetown and Welch elementary schools.

Wiesbrook's past experience includes teaching first grade and serving as math interventionist, District 129 officials said. He has also worked to initate curriculum development, has served as a grade-level team leader and has offered professional development trainings for instructional technology.

The educator has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from North Central College and master's degrees in educational technology and educational leadership from Aurora University.

"I am appreciative of the opportunity to join the West Aurora team," Wiesbrook said in a statement. "I am looking forward to supporting students and teachers through my new role."
