Vandals Shoot 14 Cars With BB, Pellet Gun In Aurora: Cops

The vandals caused thousands in damage to more than a dozen cars across the city.

AURORA, IL — Aurora Police are investigating an incident in which 14 cars were damaged after being shot with a BB or pellet gun. Police say the vandals struck sometime between 7 p.m. on Wednesday and 6 a.m. on Thursday, hitting cars throughout the city's near east, near southeast, and west sides.

Investigators believe it is very likely that some or all of the vandalisms are related. In most cases, multiple cars were struck within the a few blocks of each other. The following incidents were reported on the city's west side:

  • Vehicles were hit sometime after 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. between the 1000 and 1700 blocks of Plum Street. More than $1200 in damages was reported
  • A car was hit by a BB or pellet in the 500 block of Howard sometime between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Police say the owner reported $400 in damage.

On the city's near east and near southeast sides, vehicles were hit in the following locations:

  • Five vehicles were hit with BBs or pellets in the 800 and 900 blocks of Pearl Street between 9 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. $600 in damage was reported.
  • Police say three cars were hit in the 900 block of Front Street and one car was damaged in the 900 block of Liberty Street before 10:30 p.m. The cars sustained a total of $2000 in damage.
  • Another victim told police that their car sustained $200 in damage while it was parked on the 1000 block of Liberty Street between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • $500 in damage was caused to car in the 500 block of Kenmore sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 5:35 a.m.
