Waldo Middle School Students Read Most Minutes In English To Win Challenge

AURORA, IL — The Great Reading Tournament hosted by 311 Literacy is an International Reading Challenge where five countries including Mexico were united by the passion of reading in November of 2024.

Over 1,000,000,000 minutes were read and Waldo Middle School was the school with the highest average minutes read in English in the entire tournament!

The Board of Education recognized Waldo Middle School on January 13, 2025, for this accomplishment including the students that read the most minutes and the teachers whose classrooms read the most minutes.

Waldo Middle School students that read the most minutes:

• 6th Grade: Fatima Hernandez
• 7th Grade: Ashley Tobar Hernandez
• 8th Grade: Angelina Rogers

Waldo Middle School Language Arts Teachers whose classrooms read the most minutes:

• Nicole Thayer
• Brigham Magnusson
