West Aurora AFS Students Experience Graduation Sunday, May 21, 2017

recognition of AFS exchange students in Aurora.

AFS students, Saad Qobti from Saudi Arabia, Karen Doi from Japan, and Linus Remenyi from Germany all walked in graduation Sunday with the graduating West Aurora High School students in DeKalb. The last 10 months have been filled with many wonderful experiences for them and the generous host families who opened their homes to these teens from around the world. At West High School they have participated in service clubs, tutored peers, joined sports teams, and performed in the spring musical. They have also enriched the community by volunteering at Hesed house, picking prairie seeds at Fermilab, singing in church choir, and volunteering at Feed My Starving Children and the Northern Illinois Food Bank to name a few of their many contributions.

The AFS Northern Illinois Team congratulates them and wishes them well as they return home next month. AFS volunteers are currently seeking host families for the students who will be arriving in August for the next school year. If you would like to open your home to a teen from another country and join us in working toward a more just and peaceful world, please go to www.afsusa.org and check out the international and intercultural learning opportunities that await your family!
