Woman Killed After Jumping From Friend's SUV: Aurora Police
Police said they're working to determine why she left the moving vehicle.

AURORA, IL – A 22-year-old Geneva woman died after jumping from a moving SUV and being hit by at least one other vehicle early Monday, police said. Officers responded to a report of a body in the road on southbound Orchard Road between Galena Boulevard and Illinois Avenue at 2:15 a.m. Police said Karla R. Benavides was lying in the road when she was run over by a 2015 Subaru.
"At this point, traffic investigators are still trying to make the determination if this was the first vehicular collision with Benavides," Aurora Police Lt. Jeffery Wiencek said in a news release.
The driver of the Subaru, a 26-year-old Oswego man, pulled over immediately and remained on scene until offers arrived, police said. He was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and is cooperating with police, according to Wiencek.
