Another Successful Wreaths Across America Event

More than 250 individuals came to honor Veterans' graves, and to pay homage during the brief memorial service .

The members of the Signal Hill, NSDAR Chapter of Barrington express their gratitude to Evergreen Cemetery, community volunteers, corporate and individual donors, and all who participated in the December 14th event. More than 250 individuals came to honor Veterans’ graves, and to pay homage during the brief memorial service which featured local area dignitaries, a color guard, and Jackson Summerfield who played Taps. This was the sixth year that Signal Hill organized this event, and the members looked forward to continuing local Wreaths Across America participation for years to come.

Over 835 wreaths were placed on graves and at the cemetery’s central memorial, and participants had time to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who served in various branches of the military, from the War of 1812 to most recent conflicts. Twenty-three of the wreaths were grave specific, meaning that they were ordered by a family member or relative for specific placement.
