Barrington Hills Residents To Realize Tax Savings
VILLAGE OF BARRINGTON HILLS POISED TO ONCE AGAIN LOWER LEVY

Press Release
November 21, 2019
The Village of Barrington Hills is on track to once again lower the levy, making it the sixth consecutive year. At their November meeting, the Board of Trustees reviewed the 2019 estimate of taxes to be levied. Since 2013, the Village Levy has been reduced by 24%. Village President Martin McLaughlin thanked the Trustees for their hard work in identifying areas of the Village budget that could be improved upon for the benefit of the taxpayers. When the final draft budget numbers were tallied, President McLaughlin proudly stated with a smile, “the streak is still alive.”
The village tax reduction has occurred during a period in Illinois when many property owners and businesses are fleeing due to the increase in tax burden placed upon them by local taxing bodies. Barrington Hills has led the way to fiscal sanity implementing President McLaughlin’s and Trustee/President Pro-Tem Colleen Konicek Hannigan’s reform agenda: to run government like a business accountable to its residents. “We have continued the ‘doing more with less’ philosophy. We have resurfaced more roads, improved services and continue to plan for the future,” said McLaughlin.

At the Village Board Meeting, Tuesday, November 19th, Trustees Bryan Croll, Robert Zubak and Debra Buettner, who also constitute the Village’s Finance Committee, brought forward a resolution to carry cash reserves at levels only absolutely necessary as to not tax the residents beyond what was expected to be spent in the fiscal year. This resolution was accepted and passed unanimously by the Village President and Board of Trustees. A sure sign the Village is dedicated to being fiscally responsible.
The ordinance adopting the final levy and assessment of taxes for fiscal year 2019 to be on the December 19, 2019 Board of Trustees Meeting agenda.
