DAR to Host Genealogy Workshops in September
Workshops at Ela Area Library on September 18th, and at Barrington Area Library on September 25th. Registration is requested.
Do you have a Revolutionary Patriot among your ancestors? Start your research by attending the workshop, “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Daughters of the American Revolution.” Now is the time to establish your lineage to a Patriot in advance of America's 250th anniversary coming in 2026.
This workshop will be conducted on Wednesday, September 18th at the Ela Area Public Library, 275 Mohawk Trail, Lake Zurich, IL, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. To register, go to eapl.org and register in the events calendar for the library.
A second workshop with the same content will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 25th at the Barrington Area Library, 505 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington, IL, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. To register, go to balibrary.org and register in the upcoming events calendar.

Registrar Jenny Fisher of Barrington, IL-based Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, will provide an overview of the organization and give insights into the application process. She will also provide details on how the public may gain access to DAR’s rich library of digitized records, including a sixty-six million, all-name index of books and other items in its vast collections.
Participants will receive hints on how to identify a Patriot ancestor in their lineage, and how to get started on building a family tree using large genealogy sites such as Ancestry or Family Search. Each participant will also receive detailed handouts and tools necessary to get started with their research. Local DAR volunteers will provide valuable one-on-one assistance following the presentation.

The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded fifty-two years ago in Barrington, IL in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women’s service organization headquartered in Washington, DC.
DAR members promote historic preservation, education and patriotism via commemorative events, scholarships and educational initiatives, citizenship programs, service to veterans, meaningful community service, and more.
