CHICAGO – A family dentist with more than three decades of experience, Mark F. Ploskonka, D.D.S., who practices in Midlothian, Illinois, was installed as the 2024 Treasurer of the Chicago Dental Society (CDS) on November 12. Dr. Ploskonka has been actively involved in CDS for years, previously serving on the CDS Board of Directors as West Suburban Branch Director and President as well as holding Midwinter Meeting planning positions.

As Treasurer, Dr. Ploskonka will be a driving force in supporting membership and driving attendance for the 159th Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at McCormick Place West in Chicago, February 22 – 24, 2024. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS’ annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry’s premier events. The 2024 event will provide attendees with access to more than 230 world-class courses taught by today’s leaders in the dental profession, hundreds of live exhibits to test the latest dental innovations, and countless networking opportunities with colleagues and friends.

In addition to his leadership roles within CDS, Dr. Ploskonka has held multiple positions within the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS), including serving on the Insurance and Health Affairs Reference Committee, Insurance and Dental Benefits Reference Committee, and as a Delegate and on the Board of Trustees for many years. He is also involved in the DENT-IL-PAC, serving as Ambassador, and was the CDS West Suburban Branch Director. He also frequently participates in Illinois Mission of Mercy, a program that provides $1 million in free dental care to 2,000 patients in the span of two days, concentrating on exams, cleanings, fillings and extractions.

Dr. Ploskonka holds a bachelor's degree in general science from the University of Iowa and earned his dental degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He lives in Darien, Illinois, with his wife, Tracey. He has a daughter, Lindsey, who is 26 years old, and a son, Mark Ryan, who is 24 years old. Dr. Ploskonka practices at Midlothian Family Dental P.C. located in Midlothian, Illinois. Dr. Ploskonka is an avid golfer and tennis player and is learning to play pickleball. Recently, he and his family have discovered a love for travel most recently visiting Greece and France.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local component of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,000 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
