A Lake Barrington home suffered extensive damage after a house fire tore through early on May 10.

Barrington Fire Department responded to the fire at 27W818 Flynn Creek Drive just before 1 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the garage of the home was fully engulfed in flames. Two cars inside of the garage were also on fire. The blaze quickly spread through the home to the attic and main floor rooms. The back of the house was so severely damaged that it collapsed. Due to the severity of the fire, a MABAS box alarm was pulled for help from other departments.

Fire officials faced difficulties getting water to the house because it is situated on a narrow one lane road, so a tanker shuttle was started.
