Grove Avenue Makes Magazine's List of Top Elementary Schools in Lake County

Two other District 220 schools also earned spots on Chicago magazine's list rating the top schools in Chicago and the suburbs.

BARRINGTON, IL — Three schools in Barrington Community Unit School District 220 were named to Chicago magazine's list of the best elementary schools in Lake County, which was released this week.

The schools that were ranked included Grove Avenue Elementary School at No. 2, followed by Arnett C. Lines and Roslyn Road elementary schools at Nos. 7 and 8, respectively. In Lake County, Half Day School in Lincolnshire earned the No. 1 ranking among elementaries, and Libertyville High School took the stop spot in its category.

Although they're located in Cook County, Grove Avenue and Arnett C. Lines schools fall under the Lake County umbrella because that's the location of the District 220's headquarters.

Teaming up with nonprofit group RTI International, Chicago magazine created the criteria for its best of lists—divided by county and school level—based on test scores, attendance, spending per student, graduation rates (for the high schools) and other data taken from the Illinois Board of Education. The publication hasn't done this type of school analysis and ranking since 2012.

Here's a quick breakdown of the numbers that helped these schools earn their rankings:
