Impact 100 Chicago Announces 2017-2018 Board of Directors

Impact 100 Chicago Appoints Board Members Who Hail From from Barrington, Cary, Deer Park, Hawthorn Woods, Long Grove, and Northbrook

Impact 100 Chicago, a women’s philanthropic organization that has awarded more than $2.5 million to Chicago-area nonprofits, today announced its 2017-2018 Board of Directors:

Kathy Loria (Palatine) - President

Gina Turner (Cary) – Secretary

Karen Hoelscher (Northbrook) - Treasurer

Michele Polvere (Barrington) - Past President

Deb Gammon (Long Grove) - Governance Director

Mindy Winkel (Hawthorn Woods) - Grants Director

Kathy Froehlich (Northbrook) - Technology Director

Jennifer Frighetto (Barrington) - Communications Director

Sue Randall (Deer Park) - Membership Director

Impact 100 Chicago members pool their $1,000 membership donations to award $100,000 grants to nonprofits in the Chicagoland area, both city and suburbs. Focus areas for the 2017-2018 grant cycle awards are Culture, Education, Family, Health, and Sustainability.

“Serving as our Impact 100 Chicago president is an honor and a privilege,” said Loria, a member of the organization since 2012 and a board member since 2014. “Our Board is committed, energized and ready to help make this our best year yet. We look forward to welcoming new Impact 100 Chicago members, along with our returning members, from throughout the Chicagoland area¾and working together to help Chicago’s nonprofits turn their projects into reality.”

More than 200 area nonprofits applied for an Impact 100 Chicago grant during the 2016-2017 grant cycle. After comprehensive reviews and site visits by committees made up of Impact 100 Chicago members, nonprofit finalists were selected to present at Impact 100 Chicago’s annual Grant Award Celebrations, where members voted for the $100,000 grant recipients.

In 2017, Impact 100 Chicago awarded $652,000 with $100,000 Impact grants given to: Brighton Park Neighborhood Council, Cabrini Green Legal Aid, CASA of Cook County, Chicago Debate Commission, Chicago House and Social Service Agency and The People’s Music School. Merit awards were presented to Eversight Illinois, Juvenile Protective Association, Logan Square Neighborhood Association, Evanston Scholars and Maywood Fine Arts Association.
