Lake Barrington Announces No Increase of Property Tax Levy

LAKE BARRINGTON - For the fifth year in a row, the Village of Lake Barrington has announced it will not be increasing its portion of the property tax levy in 2019.

The Village’s ability to hold the current tax levy is indicative of both the Village’s disciplined management of taxpayer dollars and our commitment to economic development, which includes the opening of the Speedway convenience store location in 2017. As a result, the Village has been able to limit its portion of residents’ Lake County property tax bill to just 3.7% of the total property tax bill, with 1.46% dedicated to Open Space funds and the remaining 2.25% making up the Village’s General Operating fund. The remaining 96.3% goes to an assortment of programs and departments such as School District 220, the fire department and Lake County government.

“We pride ourselves on being good stewards of residents’ hard-earned tax dollars,” said Lake Barrington Village President, Kevin Richardson. “Achieving this for five consecutive years is largely due to the creation of our business-friendly community and our continued efforts to pursue new economic development activities.”

The Village of Lake Barrington was able to eliminate the need to increase the property tax levy while continuing to provide garbage and recycling pickup for residents and 24/7 policing by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.
