Opera star to sing with Bravissimo at Parker Playhouse Sunday

Enjoy an uplifting concert of Christmas classics and seasonal favorites presented by Bravissimo Vocal Ensemble at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3^rd at The Parker Playhouse in Barrington. Located at 117 East Northwest Highway, Parker Playhouse is one of Barrington's newest up and coming theaters - small, intimate and personal; perfect for highlighting the talents of baritone William Powers (Barrington), tenor Oscar Menoyo (Hoffman Estates), sopranos Susan Dennis (Bartlett) and Kimberly Albrecht (Hawthorn Woods), accompanied by Alexander Zintchencko of Palatine. Maggie Fewkes and Alina Malin of Lake Zurich will also perform, plus there will be opportunities for audience participation! Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 seniors (60+), and $10 students. Since making his New York City Opera debut in 1972, William Powers, has performed over 100 operatic roles with the major opera companies in the United States, Europe, and South America. He has been the creator of many new roles through world-premiers and important revivals. His rich, powerful voice has been widely recorded, and heard in hundreds of broadcasts throughout the globe.

Oscar Menoyo, is a versatile tenor, who currently sings with The Tenors 3 and Bravissimo. Throughout the years, he has enjoyed performing as a featured soloist with several regional opera companies, and also performed with The Lyric Opera of Chicago Chorus. His repertoire runs a wide range of styles, from musical theater, Neapolitan songs, oratorio, and classic pop to opera.

Soprano, Susan Dennis, Bravissimo’s artistic director, is equally at home with classical and Broadway repertoire. Dennis was recently artistic director and soloist with Elgin Opera and has soloed with New Millennium Orchestra, Symphonic Pops Orchestra of Chicago, Navy Pier Pops Orchestra, Harper College Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Festival Orchestra, and the Opening Night Broadway Review Troupe. She holds a BM from Eastern Illinois University and a MM in vocal performance from Northwestern University, and is a member of the vocal faculty at Elmhurst College and Harper College.

Soprano, Kimberly Albrecht enjoys singing a wide range of styles – from jazz to classical, and has performed in the Chicagoland area for over 35 years. She produces for Bravissimo, and recently soloed and produced for Elgin Opera. Kimberly is the Jazz Pizazz Trio vocalist, and is a frequent soloist with Lutheran Church of the Atonement and Barrington Village Singers. She recently was a guest soloist at the Sanfilippo Foundation Christmas Concert series, and a featured soloist at the Barrington Area Sacred Choral Festivals.
