Samaritan Counseling Center Hosts “A Day at the Races” Fundraiser
Join the Race to Support Mental Health for All

The Samaritan Counseling Center is hosting its annual capital fundraiser on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at The Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington Hills, IL at 1:00 p.m. The non-profit will celebrate its 15th anniversary to help make mental health services accessible to all who are seeking help throughout the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.
The Sanfilippo estate boasts an astonishingly beautiful and unique environment, which will provide the perfect setting for a fun-filled day of horse racing, food, fashion, entertainment, and fundraising. “A Day at the Races” festivities will include a large-screen viewing of the Kentucky Derby race LIVE from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, silent and live auctions, and a rose garland raffle. Enjoy Derby-inspired Southern cuisine paired with a signature wine, iconic mint juleps, and bourbon and whiskey cocktails. Additional entertainment includes tours of the world-renowned Sanfilippo “Place de la Musique," which houses the largest collection of restored automatic musical instruments in the world, the newly revealed Sanfilippo “Perfume Passage” exhibit, derby games, carousel rides, and more.
“Since opening in 2008, Samaritan Counseling Center has helped over 10,000 individuals and families find relief through our mental health services,” said Lori Parrish, Executive Director of Samaritan Counseling Center. “Our mission is to engage with people mentally, spiritually, and financially by providing evidence-based psychological care. Over the past 15 years, our goal has been the same – to provide hope, help, and healing to anyone navigating tough times. To date, we have provided over 70,000 clinical hours of therapy and the need continues to grow rapidly. With your help, we can achieve the goal of raising $200,000 to fill the immense need for mental health services reaching clients of all financial capacities."

As a non-profit organization, Samaritan helps individuals, couples, children and families through difficult life situations by offering psychotherapy, psychiatry, behavior modification, mediation and educational programs. Clients range in age from 3–98 and are helped by 13 licensed, seasoned and compassionate counseling providers. The Northwest suburban center headquartered in Barrington is fully accredited by the Samaritan Institute, part of a consortium of 81 counseling centers with 430 locations around the country. The local suburban group has one psychiatrist, two clinical psychologists, eight clinical social workers, and four clinical professional counselors. There are also two ordained clergy on staff. Each of them have years of experience and provide a compassionate, client-centered approach to therapy.
