Sarah Bealles Elected Chair of Illinois Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (IL-HPCO)
JourneyCare CEO Named Chair of State Organization

Hospice and palliative care executive Sarah Bealles has been elected chair of the Illinois Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (IL-HPCO). She was installed in September at the organization’s annual Education Conference in Springfield and will serve until the fall of 2017.
“The hospice industry is constantly evolving, now more than ever, and our agencies have to be able to effectively and efficiently adapt to shifting demands and market forces, while continuing to improve and expand ways to provide exceptional care to our patients and families,” Bealles noted. “I look forward to working with agency leaders across Illinois to enhance the value of IL-HPCO and effectively address our industry and community needs.”
Bealles is President and Chief Executive Officer with the Chicago area’s largest palliative, supportive and end-of-life care provider, the result of the June 2015 merger of Horizon Hospice and Palliative Care, JourneyCare and Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter. The combined agency (a new name will be announced later this year) provides services to patients and families in 10 counties.

Previously, she was President and CEO of JourneyCare since December 2011, after joining the agency in January 2011 as Chief Operating Officer. During her tenure, JourneyCare tripled in size and grew its reserves while achieving best in class employee engagement and family satisfaction.
Bealles’ background includes leadership experience in healthcare, financial services and nonprofit sectors, with expertise in cultural alignment, strategic planning, governance, operations, risk management and business development.

Bealles is a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Administrator and a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
