American History Essay Contest and Good Citizens Award recognition event on

home-schooled students as well, were asked to participate: 5th-8th graders were
invited to submit essays on the topic “World War I – Remembering the War to End
All Wars ”. Over 50 essays were submitted by the deadline, and those students who
participated will be recognized at all levels of participation, with the winners’
sponsoring schools receiving engraved plaques with the students’ names.
One high school level senior will receive the Good Citizens Award, which is a
scholarship for $1000. This year the chapter will also be presenting an Outstanding
Teacher Award; three names were submitted in this category.
This event is open to the public, and refreshments will be served. For more
