Spring Events Give Kids Opportunities to Be Active

The Hoffman Estates Park District has the cure for spring fever – fun events to get the kids moving in new and fun ways.

The Hoffman Estates Park District has the cure for spring fever – fun events to get the kids moving in new and fun ways. The Centers for Disease Control recommends that kids get 60 minutes of activity each day. Here are a variety of fun events planned for March that will help kids get their 60 minutes in by climbing, sliding, splashing, and running. Some events require pre-registration. Hoffman Walks Story Book Walk – FREE - Sat. March 17, 9-10:30 a.m. at Triphahn Center. Walk on the indoor track at Triphahn Center. The Palatine Public Library will read a story, The Luckiest St. Patrick’s Day Ever! by Teddy Slater.

Pot of Gold Climb – Sat. March 17. Come and try your luck at climbing for “gold” and other treasures on the climbing wall at Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center. Kids age 4-13 will enjoy rock climbing and collecting treasures as they ascend the rock wall. Two sessions are offered at 1 PM and 2 PM. Pre-registration is required either online or at an HE Parks facility with program #210527.

Egg Slide – FREE - Sun. March 25, 3-4:30 p.m. Did you know the Easter Bunny skates? Come to the Triphahn Ice Arena for free skate rental and free admission, too.

Egg Hunts – FREE Sat. March 31 - Hunt for eggs in this popular annual event. Three events will take place at different parks, rain or shine. Bring a basket. Check heparks.org for times and locations.

Aqua Egg Hunt – Sat. March 31 - Join us for an egg hunt in the pool at Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center. There will be activities and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Parents must accompany children in the pool if they cannot swim. For kids ages 6 months to 12 years. Two sessions are offered, one at 1 PM and one at 2 PM. Pre-registration is required either online or at an HE Parks facility with program #210723.
