Saturdays 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. 2/20-3/12/16
Writers who have begun a novel are invited to present and get feedback from others in the same boat! Discuss elements of your novel, engage in group writing exercises, and experience the encouragement to get that unfinished masterpiece back on track! We will also briefly look at the process of preparing your manuscript for submission to agents and publishers. Students are to bring some materials to first class – the latest printed version of their novel, a list of chapters, and a 1-2 page synopsis.
Fiction Writer’s Workshop – Spring 2016
Mondays, 7-9 p.m. 3/7-5/2/16
The Fiction Writer’s Workshop is designed for every level of writer who is seeking to develop the tools needed to write a story or begin a novel. By combining in-class exercises and reading your work out loud, you will gain an understanding of how to shape a compelling story. Everyone has a story. This class will give you the tools to unlock the story in you. No class 3/21.
Short Story Writing Workshop – Spring 2016
Saturdays 3/19-4/16/16 10:30 am-1:00 pm
Explore your own self-expression through the art of writing short stories. We will read short works for inspiration, discuss the art of writing and create our own writings. Supportive group critique will be part of our process as you help critique the works of your peers in this writers group. Bring your favorite notebook and writing instrument! No class 3/26.
Wednesdays 7-9 p.m. 3/30-4/27/16
If you have ever wanted to venture into the exciting world of blogging, but didn’t know where to start, this is the course for you. WordPress is the world’s leading blogging tool, offers tremendous flexibility and ease of use. And it’s free! This class will walk you through the process of setting up your blog site and making your first blog entry, or post. Basic blogging options and techniques will be reviewed to encourage you to continue a successful journey in writing online. Students can continue learning intermediate and advanced techniques through WordPress tutorials or additional classes. Regardless of past writing experience, students will gain confidence to share their views on anything from apple picking to zebra prints.
